We are delighted that our Managing Director, Richard Campbell has been listed in the 40 under 40 list.

Now in its fourth year, the 40 under 40 list recognises people under the age of 40 who have, either personally or as part of a team, been responsible for helping to advance a Northern Ireland business or organisation in a demonstrable way within the last 12 months.

Richard was appointed Managing Director of Allsop in 2013, at 25. Richard joined the company in 2005 on work placement and continued to work with Allsop throughout his degree. Although Richard holds the position as Managing Director, he has a hands-on approach with development and plays an integral role in the development team offering his technical advice and expertise.

Richard is dedicated to growing Allsop, firstly our client base, we have surpassed original expectations of supplying software to SME businesses. Richard’s customer-focused approach combined with his technical expertise has allowed him to win business with some of the largest companies in Ireland, GB, Europe and the USA.

To deliver on the demand for our solutions, Richard has more than trebled employee numbers in the last 4 years, with a mix of software developers and the appointment of a Commercial Director to further develop the commercial side of Allsop.

Richard’s management style shows commitment to developing each employee. Employees benefit from individual training plans, a fantastic team environment, and perks such as Private Medical Insurance and quarterly social outings. Richard has even appointed a Chief Happiness Officer to further reinforce the importance of company culture and ensure employee wellbeing. Even as Allsop has grown Richard has maintained an open-door policy, with employee ideas being not just listened to, but implemented. As part of this open communication, Town Hall Meetings have been introduced to communicate company performance. A further initiative within Allsop, was the introduction of quarterly profit share. This ensures that as Allsop continues to grow and thrive, employees can share in the success.

Richard’s success lies in his unique combination of superb technical skills along with his commitment to our clients and understanding their business to deliver the best solution for them.

Being able to grow Allsop over the last 4 years, from 3 people in a spare bedroom in Comber to 20 people in our Belfast office, has been his biggest achievement to date. From the beginning, the core factors Richard brings through in Allsop’s work is putting the customer first, understanding their business wholeheartedly, and wanting to enjoy shared success with them through driven determination. Richard has ensured that all of the team share this passion and this has enabled us to put our software into the hands of more users than 3 people would ever have dreamed imaginable.

Richard’s Top Business Tip

Always do what you enjoy. It will make a massive difference to your customer’s satisfaction when they can see your passion for the business, and that it is reflected in the service you provide. Providing a service you don’t enjoy can be equally reflective, and damaging for your customer service.
